If you’re looking for website creation software that does all the work for you, then ThunderSite by Generalia Software is what you need. All you have to do is add text, forms, images and scripts, and you can have a finished website in minutes.

Ease of Use:  

ThunderSite allows you to simply drag-and-drop objects such as images and multimedia on your webpage. Additionally, you can right-click the mouse button to access various editing features—a convenient feature not all website creation programs offer.

Feature Set:  

Even though ThunderSite can edit existing rollover buttons, the program doesn’t allow you to create your own rollover buttons or text.

ThunderSite also includes the ability to spell check your document, but it doesn’t work well. When we deliberately misspelled some text, the software failed to make suggestions for correction.

Templates:  

If you’re looking for website creation software with plenty of templates, ThunderSite supplies one of the largest assortments; there are over 31 categories with multiple choices in each. You can select from a number of categories and website styles to create the look you want.

The drawback to ThunderSite templates is that you can’t change the actual look of the template.

Graphic Imaging Tools:  

Another disappointment with ThunderSite involves image editing. Not only are you limited when manipulating an image (such as adding effects), you can’t simply place an image where you want on a page; the templates restrict your options.

Help/Support:  

Generalia Software help and support is average: you can email customer support from the ThunderSite control panel or call the contact number (in France). We’d like to see ThunderSite offer some tutorials to help customers better understand their website creation software.

Summary:  

One of our biggest disappointments with ThunderSite—you can’t create your own webpage designs. You’re required to use one of their templates. You also might need to wait from two hours to two days to receive your software activation key; this took us two days.

If you’re looking for a website creation software program that does almost all the work for you and offer much creative freedom, then ThunderSite might be right for you. But if you’re looking for the ability to explore your imagination, consider our higher-ranked products.
