The control panel layout is clean and simple, but when you try to use IMS Web Engine’s tools, you may run into problems. The website tools just aren’t as intuitive in IMS Web Engine as those in higher-ranked programs, so website beginners will probably find it difficult to master them.

Feature Set:  

IMS Web Engine’s features are particularly strong when it comes to animation tools. With some reading and viewing of tutorials, you can learn to master these tools and add eye-catching animations to your website.

Creating rollover buttons takes a little more of work, but once you figure out how to do it, you can customize almost any type of rollover image without much trouble.

Templates:  

Templates are awkward to use in IMS Web Engine. Since you can’t view templates ahead of time, you’ll find yourself opening them one at a time to see how they look.

Graphic Imaging Tools:  

Even though it appears to have the same graphic imaging features as Virtual Mechanics’ SiteSpinner, IMS Web Engine includes a few features not listed on our matrix, giving it more flexibility than SiteSpinner. For example, with IMS Web Engine you can add joint objects for transformation effects.

Help/Support:  

We liked the help and support offered IMS Web Engine; it was thorough and easy to access. The control panel provides access not only to the user guide, tutorials and tip of the day, but you can also access online support, online forums and check for updates from Virtual Mechanics, Inc.

For the novice user, IMS Web Engine might be too difficult, though for experienced web designers and HTML programmers, IMS Web Engine offers some intriguing features for customizing a website with some cool effects.
